Took a trip to Northern Michigan in the Spring and the big boy smallies were cruising the outside edges of the reeds. I tried tube jigs but they kept getting jammed in the reeds. I switched to a pitching technique I use in Ohio trying to get them to bite and it worked. Boy oh Boy did it work. I landed some monster smallies on 10lb monofiliment line pitching a Venom Twitchworm bait using a 3/16 ounce weight. The water was so clear you could see to the bottom of 12 feet of water.
